Hardison's Carolina BBQ Embodies Rural North Carolina's Soul

My favorite experience here is savoring their chopped pork plate, where every bite captures the essence of Eastern Carolina barbecue tradition. The meat, perfectly chopped and seasoned with their signature sauce, carries that subtle smokiness that only comes from proper wood-smoking techniques.

The sides here aren't afterthoughts – they're crucial components of the complete Hardison's experience. Their coleslaw provides the perfect tangy crunch to complement the tender pork, while their hush puppies are golden-brown perfection. Their commitment to traditional methods, combined with genuine hospitality and consistent quality, makes every visit memorable.

The staff at this place is incredibly welcoming, and the pulled pork is absolutely delicious. The interior is also very charming and cozy. The prices are quite fair compared to other fast food joints in the area. Just keep in mind that they only accept cash, but there is an ATM conveniently located inside the restaurant.

Hardison's is your go-to spot for delicious Eastern North Carolina Barbecue and amazing daily specials that won't break the bank. With a new home-cooked special offered every Tuesday through Friday, there's always something tasty to try. Personally, I can't get enough of their mouthwatering Ribs on Wednesdays. Whether you're a local or just passing through, be sure to swing by this welcoming eatery. And don't forget to sample their top-notch Hamburgers, Hot Dogs, and the crispiest French Fries in town - you won't be disappointed!

We had a great experience at this restaurant - the service was top-notch and the BBQ was delicious! We can't wait to come back and sample their fried chicken next time. The Pulled Pork Plate with sides was especially tasty and satisfying.

After a recommendation from the front desk at the holiday inn in Plymouth, we decided to take a 7-mile drive to this hidden gem of a restaurant. Despite its early closing time and weekend closure, we were fortunate enough to arrive around 4pm. The spacious and clean dining area, complete with a private back room, greeted us as we entered. The friendly staff behind the counter welcomed us with a smile, and I couldn't help but notice the bear statue to my left. The daily special, BBQ chicken, was tempting, but my craving for meat and pork led me to order the pulled pork plate with hush puppies and homemade potato salad. I also couldn't resist adding a juicy double cheeseburger with crispy fries, while my husband opted for the banana pudding and strawberry cheesecake for dessert. The service was exceptional, with quick food delivery and constant refills of sweet tea and water. The southern hospitality here was truly heartwarming and made us feel right at home. The double cheeseburger was a delightful surprise, with a perfect meat-to-bread ratio and flavorful toppings. The pulled pork was tender, and the BBQ sauce had just the right amount of tanginess. The hush puppies were crispy and savory, and the homemade potato salad had a unique tangy twist with a hint of relish. The coleslaw was unlike any I've had before, with a creamy texture and absence of carrots. Finally, the banana pudding and strawberry cheesecake were absolutely delicious - a perfect end to our meal. We will definitely be returning soon to support this local gem!

While not the absolute best BBQ I've ever tasted, this place comes pretty close, especially considering the affordable prices. For just $5, you can enjoy a filling BBQ sandwich, fries, and a drink - a fantastic deal in my book! The restaurant is not only clean but also spacious, ensuring that you'll always find seating available. The only drawback is their odd hours of operation; unfortunately, they are often closed on weekends, which can be inconvenient for many customers. Given their prime location along a major highway, it would be wise for them to reconsider their schedule to better accommodate their patrons.
